In the fourth T20I match of the India vs New Zealand 2026 series, New Zealand beat India by 50 runs at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

The home team’s decision to bowl first failed to produce instant results, as New Zealand’s openers, Devon Conway (44) and Tim Seifert (62), took advantage of the conditions with an aggressive powerplay. Both batters attacked from the start, ensuring that momentum never wavered. Conway’s innings, which contained four fours and three sixes, gave solidity, while Seifert’s seven fours and three sixes helped New Zealand get started quickly. The strong opening stand established the groundwork for a huge total, which Daryl Mitchell (39*) neatly added to. His rapid contribution ensured that New Zealand maintained a high scoring rate in the second half of the innings, finally concluding at 215/7 in 20 overs.

India’s chase unravelled early, with Abhishek Sharma going for a golden duck and Suryakumar Yadav departing soon after, just after scoring two boundaries. The early wicket loss required India to rebuild, with Sanju Samson (24) and Rinku Singh (39) attempting to anchor the innings within the opening ten overs. However, the lack of consistent partnerships pushed the required run rate higher. Shivam Dube (65) then played an outstanding counterattacking innings, clearing the boundary seven times and reaching his half-century in just 15 balls. His knock briefly changed the momentum in India’s favour, but his tragic run-out proved to be the decisive moment. After Dube was dismissed, India’s lower order failed to respond, and the team was eventually bowled out for 165/10, falling considerably short of the target.

In the first innings with the ball, Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav scalped two wickets each, while one wicket each was grabbed by Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi.

While defending, it was a perfect outing for the Kiwis as they bundled out the home team in just 18.4 overs. Three wickets were bagged by skipper Mitchell Santner, while two wickets each were taken by Jacob Duffy and Ish Sodhi. Matt Henry and Zakary Foulkes also claimed one wicket each.

With this win, NZ have avoided a whitewash, while the scoreline remains 3-1 in favour of India.

Scorecard:

New Zealand: 215/7, Overs 20, Tim Seifert 62, Arshdeep Singh 2/33

India: 165/10, Overs 18.4, Shivam Dube 65, Mitchell Santner 3/26
