In the New Zealand tour of India 2023, the second ODI will be held on Saturday, January 21 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur at 1:30 PM IST.
Rohit Sharma and his team escaped a narrow defeat in the first ODI even after piling up a total of 349. After a splendid display of quality batting by Shubman Gill, the bowlers succumbed to the assault by Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner. In the defence, the bowlers started off well but lost the rhythm in between and went for runs but still managed to take 10 wickets. With the Indian top-order firing on all cylinders, the Men in Blue will look into the bowling unit before the second fixture.
On the other end, the Kiwis lost the game but will be confident enough about their batting depth. Even after losing six wickets, the Blackcaps took the fight to the Indians and almost claimed an unachievable victory. The major drawback for the tourists is the inexperienced bowling line-up. In the absence of Trent Boult and Tim Southee, New Zealand’s bowling department is quite vulnerable against the star-studded Indian batting order. The Kiwi think tank will take the necessary measures before the Saturday game to keep the series alive.
Head-to-head:
India have the upper hand in the head-to-head competition between the two teams. The two units played against each other on 114 instances, the Men in Blue won 56 games and lost 50.
