India vs England: Star Sports signs 18 sponsors for series

Star Sports has signed 18 sponsors for series between India and England. These sponsors come varied sectors such as auto, ed-tech, e-commerce, automotive, insurance, financial services, gaming, and telecom.

The complete list of sponsors for England’s long tour of India are:

 Dream11 Byju’s
 Ceat Maruti Suzuki
 Kamla Pasand Orient
 Amazon Mondelez
 Pepsi Ultratech
 Policy Bazaar Exxon Mobil
 Zomato Havells
 Paisabazaar LIC
 Lenskart Oppo

Anil Jayaraj, executive vice president of Star Sports called this series an exceptional opportunity for brands. He said, “There is high interest in the series post the remarkable Australia win and the fact that the test will also decide India’s participation in the World Test Championship makes us confident of achieving record viewership. The two-month-long series will prove beneficial for brands, especially the day-night test which will be an exceptional opportunity for advertisers to leverage as the matches will be broadcast during prime time.”

The average reach for a bilateral series on Star Sports telecast for 2-3 weeks is usually close to 190 million. According to the broadcaster, about 30 per cent of paid TV viewers tune in to watch bilateral series telecast on the channel. While the audience contains all typical consumer segments (men, women, and kids), 46 per cent of the viewers have been males above 15 years. The rest 53 per cent is a combination of women above 15 years and children aged between 2-14 years.

Notably, the affluent urban sports watching audience prefers Star Sports channels during match days. And in the current series, the viewership will rise due to India’s recent triumph over Australia. Additionally, the series will have more telecast days compared to the previous series, which will inevitably lead to a higher viewership. This has led to the influx of reputed brands to sponsor the series. Since Star sold its 10-second ad slots for around Rs 7-8 lakh to the sponsors, the broadcaster is likely to earn over Rs 500 crore in ad revenue.

England’s tour of India includes 4 Tests, 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs. The two sides need a big test series win to qualify for the final of the test championship. All games of England’s tour of India will be broadcasted on the Star Sports network and streamed on Disney+ Hotstar in English, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu.
