India vs England 2022 1st ODI: Bumrah powers India to take series lead

With this win, India are now one up in the series.

In the first ODI match of India’s tour of England 2022, India beat England by 10 wickets at the Kennington Oval in London.

After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma elected to bowl first. The decision turned out to be in the Men in blue’s favour as they bowled out the World Cup champions for just 110 runs. Jasprit Bumrah bowled his best today along with Mohammed Shami who helped India restrict England to a low score.

While chasing captain Sharma (76) got India a brilliant start which ensured that India reach the target comfortably. The hitman hammered six fours and five sixes in his inning of an unbeaten half-century. Along with him, Shikhar Dhawan (31), who made his comeback in the blue jersey, played a composed knock. His main aim was to bring Rohit back on strike which he did amazingly. The chase for India was a walk in the park as the team finished the game in just 18.4 overs.

In the first innings, no one really contributed vastly for England. Neither openers nor any middle-order batters looked confident against the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Only Jos Buttler (30) scored valuable runs for the English side. Towards the end David Willey (21) and Brydon Carse (15) helped England reach 110 runs.

For his bowling performance, Jasprit Bumrah was announced Man of the Match. With this win, India are now one up in the series.
