In the first T20I match between India and Bangladesh, the Men in Blue defeated the visitors by seven wickets at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior.
India won the toss and asked Bangladesh to bat first. Team India was quite aggressive, with players like Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Mayank Yadav standing out. The home team kept on picking wickets, which helped them to slow down the batters and ultimately bowl them out for a low total of 127.
The T20 World Champions got off to a good start with the bat, with openers Sanju Samson (29) and Abhishek Sharma (16) striking boundaries from the first ball. Though Sharma lost his wicket early in the powerplay, skipper Suryakumar Yadav (29) maintained the assault with the bat, smashing three sixes and two fours in only 14 balls. India scored 71 runs in the powerplay, allowing them to push BAN bowlers away. Furthermore, Nitish Reddy (16) performed admirably, while Hardik Pandya (39) once again demonstrated his prowess on the field with some great shot selection. The match was completed in just 11.5 overs.
With the bat, Bangladesh’s skipper Najmul Shanto (27) batted brilliantly at the top, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz (35) once again took up the load of the team and performed admirably. The pitch was sluggish, but batters mostly got out owing to poor shot selection.
On his comeback, Varun scalped three wickets and with him, Arshdeep also got the same number of wickets. One wicket each was also taken by Hardik, Mayank and Washington Sundar.
For Bangladesh with the ball, only Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy Hasan Miraz got one wicket each.
Arshdeep Singh was adjusted Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling show. With this win, Team India goes one-up in the series.
