In the second ODI of the three-match bilateral series, India will take on Australia at the YS Raja Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 19 at 1:30 PM IST.
After a low-scoring thriller, the hosts will be confident enough to step into the second ODI after acquiring a 1-0 lead and also due to the return of their regular captain, Rohit Sharma. The star with the bat in the first ODI was KL Rahul, who was supported by the in-form Ravindra Jadeja following the top-order collapse. The seamers, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami were right on the money throughout their spells and gave a tough time to the Aussies. By carrying the momentum in the upcoming game, Rohit and his men would like to win the fixture and seal the series 2-0.
On the other end, the visitors made sure that the Indians don’t score an easy victory while chasing a sub-par total on Friday. The silver lining for the Aussies was Mitchell Starc, who was fuming with the new ball in the powerplay and sent the top-order back to the pavilion. Mitchell Marsh also gave a flying start to Australia but the rest of the batters failed to contribute significantly due to which the team bundled under 200. The stand-in captain, Steve Smith will look into the shortcomings from the previous game and will aim to win on Sunday game to level the series 1-1.
Head-to-head:
Australia have the upper hand in the head-to-head competition between the two teams with 80 victories and 54 losses, out of a total of 144 matches.
