India vs Australia 2022 2nd T20I: Rohit Sharma powers India to level the series

Following this win, India have leveled the series against the Aussies by 1-1.

In the second T20 match of the Australia tour of India 2022, India beat Australia by six wickets at the Vidharba Cricket Association in Nagpur.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first. Due some rain and wet out field, the match was cut short to just eight overs per side. This meant that the fans were in for some fireworks. Nevertheless, the Indian bowlers were up for challenge as they restricted the visitors for 90 runs. Axar Patel and the yorker king Jasprit Bumrah were at their best.

While chasing, Sharma (46*) started off well as he hammered four fours and four sixes in just 20 deliveries. Playing at strike rate of 230, the Indian captain totally striked off the pressure of strike rate. Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya also did their best to take it till the end and finish it off but it was Dinesh Karthik who hit a six and a four in the first two deliveries that he faced to clinch victory in Nagpur.

For the current world champions, only captain Aaron Finch (31) and Mathew Wade (43) scored some heavy runs. Both the batters hit some good shots to take the Aussies to a total of 90 in eight overs.

There wasn’t much to describe about the bowling performance as the match was of only eight overs. However, inform Axar Patel yet again grabbed two crucial wickets. Jasprit Bumrah also claimed one wicket that too off a brilliant yorker.

For Australia, Adam Zampa picked up three wickets and along with him, Pat Cummins also got one.

Rohit Sharma was adjudged Man of the Match for his outstanding batting show in the chase. Following this win, India have levelled the series against the Aussies by 1-1.
