India vs England 2022 1st T20I: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

In the India tour of England 2022, the first T20I will be played on Thursday, July 7 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton at 10:30 PM IST.

The regular Indian captain, Rohit Sharma returns to national duty after recovering from COVID-19. The star Indian opener, who will be captaining the side for the first time in an overseas game, will aim to bounce back in the first T20I after the fifth Test defeat on Tuesday. On the other end, the new English white-ball skipper, Jos Butler will look forward to clinching his maiden victory as full-time captain of the side on Thursday. Butler was appointed as the captain after Eoin Morgan announced retirement last week. The home team will head into this series on a confident note after levelling the Test series 2-2. The return of T20 specialists, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan and Jason Roy will be a major plus point for the hosts.

In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, India have a minor advantage. The two teams squared off on 19 occasions, the visitors won ten fixtures while the hosts emerged victorious nine times.

The last outing between the two teams in the shortest format took place in 2021, India won the bilateral series in the subcontinent 3-2.

The last time, India played the T20I series on English soil, they beat England by 2-1.
