IND vs ENG: Fifth Test in doubt after India’s support staff tests positive

BCCI is not much in favor of going ahead for the fifth and final test at Manchester.

The fifth Test match of the India-England bilateral series, which is to be held on Friday has become doubtful after another member from the Indian team’s support staff tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.

This news comes just a few days after the head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar tested positive for the virus after confirmed RT-PCR results.

Though none of the players returned positive, reports suggest that all the players and staff members have been ordered to stay in their hotel rooms. The team’s practice session has also been called off today.

After the three support staff members returned positive last week, all the others squad members had also undergone RT-PCR tests, with every one of them testing negative. Even the support staff member whose test came positive today was earlier negative.

With the new staff member returning positive, reports suggest that BCCI is not much in favour of going ahead for the fifth and final test at Manchester that starts tomorrow.
