The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 has attracted over 60 million viewers for the first 13 games, a fivefold increase over the 2022 edition, while total watch-time has surpassed 7 billion minutes, a 12x increase over the previous event, as per data issued jointly by the ICC and JioHotstar.
The high viewership indicates increased fan interest in women’s cricket and the value of strategic partnership among the ICC, JioStar, and the BCCI.
The India-Pakistan encounter on October 5 surpassed digital records, with 28.4 million viewers and 1.87 billion minutes spent, resulting in the most-watched women’s international cricket match in history. The India vs Australia match on October 12 saw 4.8 million peak concurrent viewers on JioHotstar, another all-time best for women’s cricket.
On television, the momentum has been similarly strong. The India-Pakistan encounter is the most highly rated league stage match in ICC Women’s ODI World Cup history. The first 11 matches, including India’s matches against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and South Africa, garnered 72 million viewers, a 166% increase over the previous edition. Viewing minutes increased 327% to 6.3 billion, indicating a greater emotional involvement among followers.
Siddharth Sharma, Head, Viewership and Monetization Initiatives – Sports, JioStar, said, “The incredible viewership for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup India 2025 is a true testament to the growing interest in women’s sports in India. Fans are embracing women’s sports like never before and at JioStar, we are proud that our platforms are where this movement is finding scale, driving the next era of inclusive sports entertainment.”
This outstanding accomplishment was the product of a collaborative marketing campaign by the ICC and JioStar, with crucial backing from the BCCI. The ICC’s worldwide campaign, ‘Will to Win’, along with JioStar’s emotionally charged ‘Jersey Wahi Toh Jazbaa Wahi’, which celebrates the unifying force of the India jersey, has struck a deep chord with viewers. Together, these promotions have pushed the tournament closer to the fans and sparked enormous national interest in the women’s game.
As the tournament heats up and each India match becomes a virtual must-win, the World Cup continues to establish new standards for the presentation and promotion of women’s cricket in India.
