In the 10th match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, India will take on South Africa tomorrow, October 9, at 3 PM IST, at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

The hosts have gotten off to a flying start in the competition, winning back-to-back games. Currently ranked second in the points standings, the Women in Blue will look to maintain their supremacy and extend their winning streak. To generate heavy momentum in their slow-starting campaign, India’s top-order hitters will need to abandon their timid ways against a reinvigorated South Africa. A check at the points table reveals India’s comfortable second place, the hosts might drop to third if Australia defeat Pakistan in Colombo on Wednesday, with two wins in as many games. However, India’s dearth of runs from talismanic Smriti Mandhana, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, and the effervescent Jemimah Rodrigues is causing growing concern. Harleen tops India’s run chart with 94 runs in the event thus far, while Pratika Rawal has been impressive too. Deepti Sharma has been India’s most effective bowler, taking six wickets, three of which came in the last match. Kranti Goud wowed with statistics of 3/20. With both the batting and bowling units clicking, India will want to transfer this momentum into their next match and continue their excellent campaign.

On the contrary, South Africa’s campaign began with a crushing 10-wicket defeat at the hands of England. However, they rebounded with a stunning win over New Zealand in Indore and are now fifth in the points rankings. In their most recent match, Tazmin Brits (101) and Sune Luus (83) forged a brilliant 159-run partnership to power the successful chase of 231 in just 41 overs. Brits, the team’s leading run-scorer with 106 runs in the event, has been crucial to their batting. Nonkululeko Mlaba leads the bowling attack with four wickets, including several crucial breakthroughs. The Laura Wolvaardt-led side will be hoping to continue this momentum into their next match and cement their place at the top in the rankings.
