Courtesy of some impressive individual performances during the series between India and South Africa, ICC has released the latest Women’s One Day International cricket rankings. There is very little good news for India after losing the series as Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana being the only Indians to feature in the top 10 of batters.
South African explosive opener Lizelle Lee tops the ODI rankings chart for the second time, with 773 points, a sevent spots jump and 8 points clear of England’s Tammy Beaumont. This update comes right after the ongoing series between India and South Africa, where the SA opener has turned out to be decisive in victories over India, helping the team lead the series by 3-1. Her contribution to the team in the ongoing series saw some phenomenal match winnings knocks. Lee’s opening partner, Laura Wolvaardt drops to eighth.
Following her excellent performances since the past three matches against South Africa, scoring 62, 77 and 104 respectively, Punam Raut reached to career high 13th position. Along with Raut, Harmanpreet Kaur finds her name against number 15 in the list and happens to move three places ahead to reach number 49 in the bowlers’ list. The only two Indians to feature in the top 10 list are Smriti Mandhana (7)) and Mithali Raj (9).
Rajeshwari Gayakwad, the left arm spinner, made a significant gain in the bowling list by moved up four slots to reach 18th. Sushma Verma progressed three slots to reach 81st in batting list, while Mansi Joshi was placed at 64th. India will be looking to end the series strongly by winning the final ODI this week. Both teams will play three match T-20 series after the conclusion of ODI series.
