ICC Rankings: Virat Kohli continues to climb in T-20 rankings

The weekly update of T-20 rankings brings more good news for Virat Kohli. After scoring 80 runs in the fifth T-20 game against England last Saturday, Kohli has jumped one place in the rankings. He has overtaken KL Rahul in the fourth position in the batting rankings. The classy knock of 80 runs eventually helped team India to clinch the series against England.

Kohli was not the lone gainer in the T-20 batting rankings. Vice-captain Rohit Sharma has also leaped three steps to 14th position after his explosive half-century in the final T-20 game of the series against England. Surya Kumar Yadav has got himself to 66th position after impressive debut series against England, while Rishabh Pant also continues to rise in rankings. Dawid Malan remains at the top of batting rankings after scoring a quick-fire half-century against India last Saturday.

In the bowling rankings, Tabraiz Shamsi is the new number one bowler in T-20 internationals. The South African spinner leapfrogged Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan to the top spot. Bhuvneshwar Kumar moved up 21 places up to 24th position after his impressive performances in the comeback series against England.

After the first ODI game between India and England on Tuesday, Jonny Bairstow has broken into the top ten batting rankings. The English batsman scored 94 runs in a losing cause, but his ranking was improved by four places, moving to seventh position. Shikhar Dhawan also gained two places in the rankings and sits on the 15th position after scoring 98 runs in the first ODI game.

India continues to be the number one ranked team in Tests. They missed an opportunity to become the best team in T-20Is as they needed 4-1 or 5-0 T-20 series win against England. The English team retains the top spot in both ODI and T-20 rankings.
