The Afghanistan cricket team, the dark horse of world cricket, has been having quite a mixed campaign so far in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, winning three games comprehensively before losing to West Indies in a one-sided battle.
Talking about their performances in the group stage, the side crushed Uganda by 125 runs in its opener. Later, the unit defeated New Zealand by 84 runs in its second match. Notably, Afghanistan even chased down 96 against PNG to secure a Super 8 spot.
In its last group stage game, the Rashid Khan-led unit lost by 104 runs and also suffered defeat against India in its first Super 8 fixture, which hampered the side’s NRR.
The Asian team has been one of the most improved teams in world cricket and the progress has been reflected in the business pitch too as the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) managed to attract sponsorships for the ongoing T20 carnival
