In their fifth fixture of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, India will play Zimbabwe on Sunday, November 6 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne at 1:30 PM IST.
The Rohit Sharma-led team will walk into this fixture in a do-or-die situation as a victory tomorrow will confirm their berth in the semi-finals while a defeat could eliminate them from advancing ahead in the tournament. After a defeat against South Africa, a narrow victory against Bangladesh stirred India’s ship in the right direction. The bowling unit yet again stood up and displayed a valiant effort to take the team over the finish line. Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have been carrying the batting line-up, and a healthy contribution from the openers could make things better for India ahead of the knockout stages. The Indian camp will look for a comprehensive victory and retain the top spot in the table at the end of Super 12.
On the other end, Zimbabwe have been eliminated from the ongoing World Cup as they just gathered one victory from their four fixtures so far. But still, Craig Ervine will look forward to pulling off one more upset by beating the Indians just like Zimbabwe beat Pakistan. The team almost defeated Bangladesh as it just fell short by three runs. Blessing Muzarbani and Sikandar Raza have been the biggest positive for Zimbabwe in the World Cup. The Zimbabwe camp will still aim to put their best foot forward and score a victory before concluding their World Cup campaign.
In the head-to-head competition between the two teams in the shortest format, India have the upper hand. The two sides collided on seven occasions, India emerged victorious five times while Zimbabwe won twice.
