ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 India vs Netherlands: India pocket comprehensive victory over the Dutch

With this win, India now has four points on the table and are sitting at the top of the table.

In the 23rd match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, India defeated the Netherlands by 56 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Sydney.

India won the toss and opted to bat first. It was an obvious choice given that it was a perfect opportunity to have some proper outing with the bat and set up a score in the first innings. KL Rahul once again got out cheaply but on the other end, Rohit Sharma (53) scored a magnificent half-century which consisted of four fours and three sixes. Along with captain Sharma, Virat Kohli (62*) also continued his fine form. The legendary batter smashed three fours and two sixes to take India’s score to 179/2 in the first innings. His partnership with Suryakumar Yadav (51*) was crucial as the team was lacking a few runs in the middle overs. Both the batters scored 85 runs for the third wicket partnership in which the Mumbai-based batsman hammered at the strike rate of over 200.

While chasing, Tim Pringle (20) was the only batter who looked good for the Dutch side. No other batter really contributed much and the team eventually finished their innings for 123/9.

In the second innings, two wickets each were taken by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin. In the process, one wicket was also picked by Mohammad Shami.

For the Netherlands, one wicket was taken by Paul van Meekeren and Fred Klassen.

Suryakumar Yadav was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant quick-fire knock. With this win, India now has four points on the table and are sitting at the top of the table.

Scorecard:

India: 179/2, Overs 20, Kohli 62*, Paul van Meekeren 1/32

Netherlands: 123/9, Overs 20, Tim Pringle 20, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 2/9
