In the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, India will take on England on Thursday, November 10 at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide at 1:30 PM IST.
Apart from the narrow defeat against South Africa, India had a pretty good Super 12 campaign where the team beat the likes of Pakistan and Bangladesh. After outplaying Zimbabwe on Sunday, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will head into this semi-final game on a high note. KL Rahul made vital contributions in the previous two games while Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav are scoring a truckload of runs in the middle overs. The skipper’s bat has been silent but cricket pundits and fans are expecting the star opener has saved his runs for the knockout games. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh are bowling at the top of their prowess in powerplays and providing much-needed breakthroughs. The Indian camp will aim to continue their form and momentum in the next two important games of the competition.
On the other end, the in-form England side outsmarted Sri Lanka on a slow pitch and qualified for the knockout stage along with eliminating the hosts Australia. The opening duo of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales has been paying high rewards to the team as the latter attacks in the powerplay while the former plays the supporting role before unleashing. The bowling unit has also done a decent job with Mark Wood firing at 150 kmph, Adil Rashid sustaining runs in the middle overs and Sam Curran being disciplined with the bouncers and yorkers. The English camp will look forward to getting a step closer to creating its 2010 T20 World Cup glory.
In the head-to-head competition in the shortest format, India edges out England. The two sides faced each other on 22 occasions, India won 12 games while England emerged victorious on 10 occasions.
Earlier this year, India registered an away T20I bilateral series victory against England.
