Hockey India names Power Finance Corporation as title sponsor for India vs Germany two-match series

Hockey India, the governing body of the sport in India, has announced a new sponsorship deal with Power Finance Corporation (PFC), a state-owned company that provides financial assistance to India’s power sector.

As part of the deal, the brand has been named title sponsor for the upcoming India vs Germany bilateral hockey series, which is set to be held on October 23 and 24 at the iconic Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

This two-match series also celebrates the comeback of men’s international hockey to the national capital after a decade. The last international match played at this facility was the Hero Hockey World League Final – Men’s Round 4 in January 2014.

PFC, which is administratively controlled by the Ministry of Power, plays an important role in fostering energy sector growth. PFC is committed to helping India’s growth through strategic collaborations and investments, the most recent of which is its collaboration with Hockey India.

In keeping with Hockey India’s mission to make hockey accessible to all, spectator entry to the PFC India vs Germany Bilateral Hockey Series 2024 will also be free. Fans will be able to simply obtain their tickets with the introduction of a free digital ticketing system. For hassle-free entrance to the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, fans only need to visit the official ticketing page and enter their details to acquire a virtual ticket.

India and Germany are bitter rivals with a long history in hockey. India have won eight of the 19 games played since 2013, compared to seven won by the current world champions and silver medallists from Paris 2024. The two international hockey giants last met in the Paris 2024 Olympics semi-final, where the current world champions won 3-2.

The matches will be televised on DD Sports and live streamed on FanCode beginning at 3 PM IST on October 23 and 24, 2024.
