Heung min-Son extends his contract with Tottenham Hotspur till 2026

The 29-year-old has 107 goals in 280 games to himself and has formed a lethal partnership with Harry Kane over the years.

South Korea and Tottenham Hotspur’s star player Heung min-Son has signed a contract extension with the club that keeps him till 2026.

It has been a progressive week for Spurs as many new players have been roped in under the new guidance of manager Nuno Espírito Santo and new director of football Fabio Paratici. This news came after the signing of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta on loan. Another Atalanta player Cristian Romero has also agreed on personal terms with Spurs and is expected to join soon.

Son was first signed by the club by the German side Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and since then the player has been a top performer for the club. The 29-year-old has 107 goals in 280 games to himself and has formed a lethal partnership with Harry Kane over the years.

The South Korean was in the form of his life last season with 22 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions and had 14 goal combinations in a single season with Harry Kane beating the record previously made by Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton in 1994/95.

The player said “The club have showed me massive, massive respect and obviously I’m very happy to be here,” the South Korea forward said. “It’s like home, especially with the fans, the players, the staff. There was no decision. It was easy.

Spurs’ new director of football Paratici also shared his insight about this agreement and said that this is positive news for the club and he is delighted to retain the player for many more years.

It is a moment of relief for Spurs but the main doubt for next season is whether Harry Kane is going to continue or not for the club. The player expressed his desire to move out of the club to play Champions League football which is not possible at Spurs as they finished 7th last season and qualified for the inaugural season of UEFA Conference League.

There have been speculations about Kane’s transfer and Manchester City are the front runners. City made a €100 million bid for the England captain.
