The Indian all-rounder and one of the standby players of the squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, Shardul Thakur, turned 31 today i.e. Sunday, October 16, 2022.
Following an impeccable performance in the domestic circuit for Mumbai, Thakur received his maiden national call-up in 2016 against West Indies but didn’t get the chance to play. In 2017 against Sri Lanka, he made his debut for India. Since his debut, the cricketer was always been in the national team’s scheme of things. Being crucial with the ball in breaking partnerships in middle overs and his assault with the bat in death overs made him a great prospect for the team. He was shot to fame following his heroics in India’s famous Gabba victory, where he stitched a 123-run partnership with Washington Sundar and scored 67 runs in the second inning. In the same match, he also gathered eight wickets. Earlier this year, he was onboarded by the Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Delhi Capitals (DC), for a whopping INR 10.75 crore.
In the longest format, he played eight games so far and scored 254 runs and in the ODI format, he amassed 257 runs in 27 fixtures. With the ball, in international cricket, Thakur has 99 wickets. The 31-year-old is quite popular on social media among the youth and is also widely referred to as Lord Shardul. A cricketer with a sublime skillset along with a social media appeal is bound to do well on the commercial pitch. Let’s have a look at the esteemed cricketer’s endorsements and net worth:
The Palghar-based cricketer received his first major endorsement deal in 2020 when Tata Power onboarded him as a brand ambassador following a fitting performance in a T20I series against New Zealand.
During the IPL 2021, Thakur was signed by Blitzpools as one of its brand ambassadors. In the most recent development, the all-rounder bagged an endorsement deal with the Kolkata-based company, Khadim.
Thakur’s net worth is reported to be around INR 36 crore. His potent wealth can be attributed to his international match fees, IPL salary and endorsement deals.
Thakur’s garage doesn’t consist of any fancy cars, he was gifted Mahindra Thar SUV from Anand Mahindra following the cricketer’s prodigious contribution in the iconic Gabba victory.
