Golden State Warriors honors Kamala Harris with customized jersey

Kamala Harris, the newly-minted Vice President of the United States of America made history by becoming African American and Asian American Vice President. Recently, NBA’s Oakland-based franchise Golden State Warriors have honored the Vice President with the club’s custom made jersey which reads ‘Madame VP.’

The Warriors released a video on January 20 to pay the Oakland-born Harris a homage. The main video follows a young girl around, who is seen wearing a big ‘Oakland Forever’ jersey. The girl in the video walked around the city with Harris’ speech playing in the background.

Later in the video, Warriors’ star shooter Stephen Curry signed the 49-Numbered Jersey and wrote ‘To Kamala, Legendary VP, Bay Area to DC’. Curry further asked the Vice President to hang the jersey in her new office at the white house. The three-time NBA Champion greeted Harris and said, “Congratulations for blazing your own path. We are all rooting and supporting you the whole way.”

Harris acknowledged the efforts put up by the franchise and said, “This means so much to me. I will proudly… proudly hang this (Madame VP Jersey) in the office of the Vice President of the United States, an office I am about to occupy. I cannot thank you enough, and you always bring such joy and pride to me as a daughter of Oakland.”

Currently, the Warriors are placed in the fifth position in the Western Conference table of the league, winning their last two games. Earlier this week, the franchise made headlines when it became the second-most valuable franchise in the NBA with a worth $5.42 billion.
