Golden State Valkyries, a newly established Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) expansion team, have announced a strategic partnership with JPMorganChase.
This multi-year alliance has positioned the American multinational finance company as the team’s inaugural founding partner and shield uniform sponsor.
Beyond the court, the partnership will focus on community initiatives in the Bay Area. Together, the Valkyries and JPMorganChase will collaborate on programs designed to improve financial health, promote workplace equity, foster career growth, and support female-owned businesses.
As a founding partner, JPMorganChase will have its logo prominently displayed on the Valkyries’ home and away jerseys. Additionally, the team’s home games will be played at the Chase Center in San Francisco, further strengthening the connection between the two entities.
Commenting on the occasion, Jess Smith, Valkyries President, said, “We are building the Valkyries with the intention of creating a legacy on and off the court. JPMorganChase has had alignment with us every step of the way in building a powerful, state-of-the-art franchise that inspires fandom, drives impact, and will compete for championships. This partnership enhances each of our goals with their expertise, care, and tenacity for driving culture through sport. In addition to being our inaugural Shield Uniform Partner, which will be represented on our players and fans, we look forward to driving impact through financial literacy programming alongside a focus on women-owned small businesses.”
Carla Hassan, JPMorganChase Chief Marketing Officer, added, “JPMorganChase has been a longstanding supporter of female athletes and we are thrilled to partner with the Valkyries to help build a world-class organization that is going to push the game for athletes and fans. We could not have scripted a better partnership, one that reinforces our commitment to advance and economically empower the Bay Area, expands on our work to drive financial literacy in the region, and helps us more deeply engage with our customers.”
JPMorgan Chase has a strong history of sports industry partnerships, including Madison Square Garden, the US Open, Miami Grand Prix, Chase Center (home to Golden State Warriors), Chase Stadium (home to Inter Miami CF), and the National Basketball Association‘s (NBA) Atlanta Hawks.
Golden State Valkyries, the WNBA affiliate of the seven-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, were announced as the 13th WNBA franchise. The team is set to make its WNBA debut in 2025.
