German Handball Federation and SPORTFIVE extend alliance through 2030

Under the renewed agreement, SPORTFIVE retains exclusive marketing and media rights for the DHB's men’s and women’s national teams.

The German Handball Federation (DHB), the national handball association of Germany, and the international sports marketing agency, SPORTFIVE have announced the extension of their longstanding partnership until 2030.

This strategic alliance, which began in 2008, will continue to drive the growth and visibility of German handball on a global scale.

Under the renewed agreement, SPORTFIVE retains exclusive marketing and media rights for the DHB’s men’s and women’s national teams, including sponsorship opportunities such as jersey branding, LED board advertising, and digital activations. The partnership aims to elevate the profile of German handball, attracting a broader fanbase and generating new revenue streams for the DHB.

Mark Schober, CEO of the DHB, emphasized the strength of its relationship with SPORTFIVE and said, “We have a long-standing, trusting and progressive partnership with SPORTFIVE. We have put our contract on a new footing and are both focussing on the further development of handball. SPORTFIVE and the DHB work as well-established partners on an equal footing. I appreciate the professional sales structures and the open nature of our co-operation. That suits our sport of handball.”

Hendrik Schiphorst, Managing Director of SPORTFIVE Germany, echoed this sentiment and added, “We look forward to continuing our long-standing collaboration with the German Handball Federation in the coming years and would like to thank them for their trust. Internationally, the DHB has established itself as one of the most sought-after organisers of the top handball tournaments. We are proud to support the DHB as a partner in such exciting times and to further expand the marketing of the national handball teams.”

The timing of this extension comes at an opportune moment. Following Germany’s silver medal win in men’s handball at the Paris Olympics 2024, interest in the sport is on the rise. In the years ahead, Germany is set to host several high-profile handball events, including the Women’s World Championship in 2025 (co-hosted with the Netherlands) and the Men’s World Championship in 2027. Another World Championship will follow in 2029, with Germany co-hosting alongside France. These tournaments offer SPORTFIVE a valuable platform to amplify the sport’s reach and deepen fan engagement.

With more than 760,000 members and 22,000 teams, the DHB is the largest national handball federation in the world and plays a pivotal role in shaping the sport’s future. SPORTFIVE’s extensive expertise in sports marketing, spanning 15 countries and diverse sports, positions the entity as a key partner in enhancing German handball’s global appeal.

As the sport continues to grow, this renewed partnership between the DHB and SPORTFIVE underscores their shared commitment to making handball one of Germany’s most celebrated sports on the world stage.
