Formula E assigns media rights to Channel 4

Every single race will be broadcasted live on Channel 4, All 4 and its YouTube channel.

The electric motorsport championship, Formula E has partnered with the broadcaster, Channel 4, to cover season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in the UK starting from January 28, 2022. This deal is a multi-year collaboration making the television network, the exclusive free-to-air TV home of the thrilling racing competition.

Through this partnership, every single race will be broadcasted live on Channel 4, All 4 and its YouTube channel. In addition to the highlights of every action in Formula E, the broadcasting firm would also provide live coverage to the championship’s new qualifying format before every E-Prix that depicts fierce knockout duels held for the pole position. The coverage will be presented by motorsport experts and professionals including analyst Dario Franchitti.

Pete Andrews, the Head of Sport at Channel 4, gave his insights on the grand deal and said, “Formula E is a fantastically exciting sport and this deal is wonderful news for sports fans. We’re proud to be showcasing a sport with sustainability at its heart and one that plays such an important role in seeking to combat the climate crisis.”

Aarti Dabas, the Chief Media Officer of Formula E also commented on this partnership, “We are delighted to build on our relationship with Channel 4 as the exclusive free-to-air home of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship here in the UK. The multi-year partnership with Channel 4 is great news for fans across the UK and for the continued growth of our sport. Last season saw more fans around the world tune into our live race programming than ever before. With Channel 4 established as the regular free-to-air home for Formula E in the UK, we look forward to better serving our passionate fanbase while attracting new fans to the excitement of all-electric street-racing.”

The most awaited 16 race calendar of the only all-electric racing tournament will kickstart in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia and cover some iconic cities such as Rome, Monaco, Berlin, London and New York.

Formula E has recently held some strong sponsorship moves that have uplifted its sponsorship portfolio and outreach in the sports industry. Some notable deals include an extension with DHL and La Chain L’Equipe, LOI with Telangana and collaboration with Copper.co.
