Forest Green Rovers elongate partnership with Sportsrooms

Both Forest Green Rovers and Sportsrooms entered into the pact for the first time in 2021.

The English football club, Forest Green Rovers F.C. have announced a partnership extension with the sports travel services entity, Sportsrooms.

Both bodies entered into the pact for the first time in 2021, and in that same year, the travelling service entity also launched its initiative, Green Team Travel. It aims to help keep a check on and reduce carbon footprints.

For the 2022/23 season, the firm monitored FGR’s carbon footprint jointly. In total, the Rovers went 6,575 miles by coach and ate 1,470 vegan meals in order to get ready for games.

The company collaborated with Carbon Neutral Britain to calculate FGR’s carbon footprint for the season, which came to 14.05 tCO2e. Both bodies are dedicated to significantly decreasing the team’s carbon footprint for the 2023/24 season.

Chris Newsham, Director at Sportsrooms, said, “As a travel agency who specialises in elite sports travel we are acutely aware of the impact team travel has on the environment.  Over the last couple of years, we have worked to create and develop a simple but effective solution for teams to track, manage and reduce their carbon footprint.

He further commented, “As a long-standing partner of Forest Green Rovers, we are delighted to have been able to work with the club on this initiative to ensure carbon neutral team travel.  Forest Green Rovers have long been the gold standard in sustainability in sport and we are proud to be working in partnership on such a valuable and important initiative. Our hope and vision is that many more sports teams will join the initiative in the years ahead to collectively reduce the environmental impact of professional sports.”

The company’s mission is to put athletes and teams at the centre, creating effortless experiences in unforgettable settings that are intended to improve athletic performance.
