Football’s commercial landscape continues to evolve as clubs increasingly use sponsorships not simply as sources of shirt revenue, but as platforms for fan engagement, community initiatives, brand launches and international expansion.
A series of partnership announcements from Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United, Brentford, Burnley, Cardiff City and Wrexham highlights this shift, with brands across confectionery, technology, betting, travel, financial services and social impact seeking deeper connections with football audiences.
Tottenham Hotspur have extended their partnership with Cadbury by a further four years, taking the relationship through to the end of the 2029-30 season. Originally established in 2020, the partnership will continue to centre on supporter engagement, with Cadbury using the platform to celebrate stories from the Tottenham community and create exclusive experiences for fans.
Ryan Norys, Chief Revenue Officer at Tottenham Hotspur, said, “We’re thrilled to be extending our partnership with Cadbury, continuing to profile supporter stories and provide rewards through exclusive experiences. Since the partnership began, Cadbury and Spurs have shared a commitment to recognising those who dedicate so much to the Club, and we’re proud to continue working together to bring that shared purpose to life.”
At Leeds United, technology company KChat has been named the club’s official sleeve partner for the 2026027 season. The agreement coincides with KChat’s planned public launch, giving the company immediate exposure through Leeds’ return to the Premier League. The partnership will also extend beyond the shirt, with Leeds and KChat planning supporter-focused activations throughout the campaign.
Phil Hardman, Partnerships Director for Leeds United, said, “We are really pleased to welcome KChat as our Official Sleeve Partner for the 2026/27 campaign. As the club continues to grow both on and off the pitch, we are proud to partner with an innovative technology company that shares our commitment to bringing people together. We look forward to creating exciting experiences for our supporters in the seasons ahead.”
Brentford, meanwhile, have agreed a five-year extension with Hollywoodbets, taking the relationship into its seventh season. Although Hollywoodbets will move away from the front-of-shirt position, the company will remain the club’s official betting partner, retaining a range of branding, hospitality and fan-engagement rights.
Brentford Head of Partnership Services Adam Ward said, “Like Brentford, Hollywoodbets are ambitious and are always thinking long term. We are very fortunate to have them as a partner and their commitment to the club over the years has been remarkable. Entering our seventh year proves the strength of the relationship, and I’m very pleased to see that Hollywoodbets continues to share our commitment to making a positive impact within both our communities.”
At Burnley, Trainline has become the club’s official training kit and back of shirt partner for the 2026-27 season. Trainline branding will feature across Burnley’s men’s, women’s and academy teams, creating a partnership closely aligned with the travel habits of football supporters.
Burnley Football Club Chairman Alan Pace said, “We’re delighted to welcome Trainline as our new Official Training Kit and Back of Shirt Partner. Our supporters travel incredible distances to follow this Club, home and away, and we know how important those journeys are to the matchday experience. Trainline’s focus on making travel simpler and more sustainable makes this a natural partnership for Burnley. We’re excited to work together to give our supporters new ways to engage with the Club, while encouraging more fans to consider rail travel when following the Clarets. Trainline shares our ambition to connect people and communities, and we look forward to working together throughout the season to create experiences and opportunities that deliver real value for our supporters.”
Cardiff City have taken a different approach to their partnership with DragonBet, with the betting brand incorporating Welsh children’s hospice charity Tŷ Hafan into its sponsorship. The initiative will provide the charity with increased visibility through Cardiff City’s warm-up tops during the 2026-27 season.
Adam Pierce, Cardiff City FC’s Senior Partnerships Sales Manager, said, “It’s great to see our partnership with DragonBet expanded to include our warm-up tops for the 2026/27 season. We love their plans to incorporate Tŷ Hafan into the partnership and look forward to seeing this agreement come to life over the coming months. Thank you to David, James, and the team at DragonBet for their continued support of Cardiff City Football Club.”
Wrexham AFC have also strengthened their commercial portfolio by appointing Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) as their official bank partner, official wealth management partner and back-of-kit sponsor for the 2026-27 season. RBC’s branding will appear across the club’s men’s and women’s teams, while the partnership will also support community initiatives through the Wrexham AFC Foundation.
Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds, Wrexham AFC Co-Chairmen, said, “We’re thrilled to welcome RBC to Wrexham. One of us opened his first bank account with Royal Bank of Canada… We’ll let you guess which one. So this one is personal. We look forward to making sure people understand the global reach of RBC as Wrexham continues its march to worldwide football fame.”
Taken together, the six agreements demonstrate how football sponsorship is moving beyond traditional logo exposure. Long-term relationships, purpose-led activations, product integration, fan experiences and international audience development are increasingly central to the value proposition.
For rights holders, the objective is no longer simply to sell inventory. It is to build commercial partnerships that give brands meaningful access to football’s communities, culture and increasingly global fanbases.
