Australian AI infrastructure company Firmus Technologies has signed a five-year partnership with Cricket Tasmania, combining commercial rights across the state’s leading cricket teams with a commitment of more than A$1 million to grassroots cricket.
Under the agreement, Firmus has become a major partner of Cricket Tasmania, with its branding featured on the playing strips of the Tasmanian Tigers and Hobart Hurricanes. The partnership covers Tasmania’s representative cricket programs, including the Big Bash League (BBL) and Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).
At the centre of the agreement is the Beyond Boundaries initiative, through which more than A$1 million will be invested directly into community cricket over the next five years. The programme will support grassroots clubs through equipment, local programmes and community projects, with a focus on removing barriers to participation and creating greater opportunities for Tasmanians to engage with the sport.
Cricket Tasmania CEO Dominic Baker said, “This is an incredibly significant partnership for Cricket Tasmania, not only because of Firmus’ commitment to our high-performance programs, but because of the unprecedented investment they are making in community cricket across our state. More than $1 million will be invested directly into community cricket initiatives over the next five years, helping us remove barriers to participation and create more opportunities for Tasmanians to play and enjoy our game.”
Firmus Co-founder and Co-CEO Oliver Curtis added, “We started in northern Tasmania, and supporting the communities around us is an important part of our ethos here. Local sports clubs give people a place to come together, and we want to help them keep creating those opportunities. Through Beyond Boundaries and the community club grants, we’ll support grassroots cricket with equipment, local programs and projects that make it easier for people to take part. This partnership is about backing clubs and the people who keep them going, so more Tasmanians can enjoy the game.”
The agreement adds to Firmus’ expanding portfolio of Tasmanian sports partnerships, which includes relationships with the Tasmania Devils, Tasmania JackJumpers and Tasmania Jewels.
While the financial value of the commercial agreement has not been disclosed, its combination of elite sporting visibility and significant grassroots investment gives Firmus a broad platform to strengthen its engagement with communities across Tasmania. For Cricket Tasmania, the partnership provides funding not only for its high-performance teams but also for the wider participation ecosystem underpinning the sport across the state.
