Rotterdam Dockers, one of six franchises in the first European T20 Premier League (ETPL), an ICC-sanctioned T20 franchise league, have announced that Fireflies.ai and Krish Ramineni have joined the franchise as founding investors.
Cricket greats Jonty Rhodes, Faf du Plessis, Heinrich Klaasen, and Bollywood actor and sports entrepreneur John Abraham will join him as co-owners, with Madhukar Shree serving as the team’s managing director.
Fireflies.ai is a premier AI productivity platform that enables professionals to automate meeting notes, transcriptions, summaries, and action items. The platform, trusted by over 20 million users and 75% of the Fortune 500, has emerged as a global leader in AI-powered workplace collaboration.
Krish Ramineni, Founder and CEO of Fireflies.ai, has led the company’s quick growth to become one of the most well-known names in artificial intelligence. Ramineni is an early investor in businesses such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, and SpaceX, as well as a passionate cricket and sports lover who played tennis in high school and college.
The investment is another big step forward for Rotterdam Dockers as the franchise works to reinforce its long-term objective of integrating global commercial leadership with sports excellence ahead of the inaugural ETPL season.
Rotterdam Dockers Co-owner Heinrich Klaasen, said, “We’re delighted to welcome Krish to the Rotterdam Dockers family. His passion for cricket, coupled with his remarkable journey in building one of the world’s leading AI companies, makes him a fantastic addition to our team. Having people like Krish believe in the vision of this franchise gives us even more confidence as we build something special on and off the field.”
Rotterdam Dockers Managing Director Madhukar Shree, commented, “Krish’s investment is about much more than capital. He brings with him deep expertise in scaling global technology businesses, building high-performance organisations and driving innovation. As we look to establish Rotterdam Dockers as a world-class sporting franchise, his strategic guidance and global perspective will be invaluable in accelerating our growth, strengthening our commercial ecosystem and creating long-term value for our partners and fans.”
Krish Ramineni, Founder and CEO of Fireflies.ai and Founding Investor in Rotterdam Dockers, said, “As someone who has played, watched, and followed cricket closely for years, becoming a founding investor of the Rotterdam Dockers feels incredibly special for us at Fireflies. Cricket has always had a global audience, and now Europe has a real opportunity to build something massive around the game. I’m excited to bring the same mindset we used to scale Fireflies, moving fast, using AI, and challenging old assumptions, to help the Dockers compete on the field.”_
Rotterdam Dockers are one of the six founding franchises of the ETPL, a competition designed to boost the growth of cricket in Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands by bringing together world-class players from the three nations and around the world. The collaboration emphasises the franchise’s desire to achieve long-term success on and off the pitch.
The ETPL’s debut edition will take place from August 26 to September 20, 2026, with the host cities being Voorburg, Netherlands, and Dublin, Ireland.
