Financial Discrepancies of ₹200 Crore Found in PSL

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ehsan Mani has admitted that financial discrepancies of around ₹200 crores had been registered in the audit of the first two editions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Mani appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly on September 31. In a shocking turn of events in the meeting, Mani admitted that PCB is an autonomous body, and he didn’t personally look into every audit report.

The PAC has told the PCB chairman to complete a departmental inquiry/audit of the financial bungling in the PSL and submit a report to them within a month.

According to the Auditor General of Pakistan’s office that carried out an audit of the first two editions, the financial discrepancies happened due to unauthorized payments to the six franchises from the central pool of revenues.

At the PAC meeting, allegations were studied that said some of the franchises were undersold at the launch of the PSL, resulting in a loss of $1.1 million for PCB.

PAC chairman, Rana Tanvir reminded Mani that he was responsible for everything that happened during his tenure as the Chairman of the PCB. The cricketing board has been ordered to give a detailed report of PSL to the PAC and AG office.

The committee also analyzed the report of the special audit carried out by the auditor general’s office of the first two editions of the PSL.
