The 2022 Primeira Liga champions, FC Porto have announced a partnership deal with a metaverse platform, Upland.

Following this development, FC Porto will become the first European football club to venture into the metaverse. This new partnership is all set to reshape fan bases and elevate FC Porto and Upland.

As per the deal, the city of Porto will be created in the metaverse along with Estádio do Drago (Dragon Stadium) with NFT properties that will be modelled to real-world addresses that fans can purchase.

Fans can now hold rarity level NFTs largely owing to Upland’s interactive and enjoyable game mechanics. Fans can also sell their NFTs in player-owned and functioned shops that are mapped on their simulated properties across the metaverse.

The first stage of the FC Porto expansion in Upland will take place during the 2022/23 season.

Idan Zuckerman, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Upland, said, “Upland and FC Porto couldn’t be a better match. Porto is an incredibly innovative team and we’re excited to help them to engage with their fans in the metaverse.”
