The LALIGA club, FC Barcelona have developed a sponsorship agreement with Human Mobile Devices (HMD), a Finnish mobile phone manufacturer.
With this deal, the brand has been named the club’s global partner, mobile phones partner, and smart phones partner.
This mobile phone company is quite advanced in the tech industry as it develops feature phones without social media to help limit screen time. Along with this, the brand’s smartphones are repairable and simple enough for anyone to fix at home. HMD was established in 2016 and is currently operating in over 200 nations.
HMD and FC Barcelona have signed a multi-year agreement that covers rights of affiliation for the men’s and women’s football teams. It involves access to athletes to create graphic and audiovisual material, and brand visibility on match days and internet channels.
Furthermore, Human Mobile Devices received a Platinum Ecovadis certification for the third year in a row, the highest possible score for a sought-after sustainability award.
Juli Guiu, Vice-President, FC Barcelona Marketing Area, commented, “Reimagine the future and working for the next generation of fans and players is part of what defines FC Barcelona’s culture, so partnering with a company that embraces this vision like HMD is a natural move for us. In addition, as sustainability is one of the main pillars of Club’s strategic plan, we are looking forward to start building synergies between two organisations who believe in putting the care of future generation in the center of its activity.”
Lars Silberbauer, Chief Marketing Officer, Human Mobile Devices, said, “When it comes to creativity and innovation in sport you simply cannot look past FC Barcelona. The club has always championed fresh thinking, beauty, and flair, and we have the same mindset when it comes to technology. And just like FC Barcelona brings people together – it’s more than a club obviously – we’re the same. Every device we make is designed to enhance people’s lives and build connectivity.
“I’ve been a FC Barcelona fan for a long time, ever since Michael Laudrup joined the club back in 1989. I’m still a fan, and please to announce HMD as a supporter too. We can’t wait to work with the club, and the culers, to do some amazing things together.“
In April 2024, the brand also forged ties with the Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The association emerges as FC Barcelona work to boost their commercial portfolio. The club recently formed sponsorship agreements with Aramark, ZIC, Fever, Iluminación Disano, Figueras Seating, XBET, CUPRA, HPE and EBC Financial Group.
