The Bundesliga club, FC Augsburg have announced a new sponsorship association with a Japanese sportswear company, Mizuno. In this partnership, the brand has been named as the club’s new kit designer for the next five years, commencing from the 2023/24 season.
The corporation which was established in 1906 by brothers Rihachi and Rizo Mizuno, will develop the kits and training equipment for both the men’s first team along with all women’s and junior teams.
Furthermore, another positive news for Augsburg supporters is that they will be able to provide their own suggestions for the styling of the club’s distinctive products in the future.
FCA’s CEO, Michael Ströll, said, “For us, the selection of Mizuno was above all driven by the opportunity to design unique kits as well as their quality. We’re really happy to have secured a long-term partner in Mizuno who want to come on the exact same path as us for years to come. Mizuno, with its high-quality designs and standard of product, as well as its focused engagement with sustainability, are the perfect match for our own direction as a club. Through the kits and training gear specifically designed for us, we’ve increased our connection and identification with the fans. We’re convinced that, together with our fans, we will have lots of fun with our partner.”
Mizuno has a rich history of football design, beginning with their very own football boots, which have been manufactured since the mid-1950s. Mizuno has been an effective provider for European football teams again since the 2022/23 season.
Among many others, the company also manufactures kits for VfL Bochum and S.S. Lazio and has distinguished itself through unique designs tailored to the respective clubs.
Mizuno was one of the first corporates in the sports sector to introduce a global environmental venture in 1991. As part of its ongoing strategic approach, the firm has concentrated on the three key areas of environmental preservation, wellness via sport, and honour for all humans. It’s a technique that compliments FCA’s own sustainability strategy, “Building bridges. Move people. Protect the environment.” Furthermore, Mizuno has also committed to becoming carbon-neutral by 2050.
