The 2022 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix has become the first European race to draw more than two million viewers for the UK pay-TV giant, Sky Sports.
The race around the roadways of Monte Carlo managed to draw an estimate of 2.01 million viewers, with a peak of 2.25 million.
The qualifying session on May 28 aggregated 1.03 million viewers and peaked at 1.17 million, making it Sky Sports’ most-watched Monaco qualification since the broadcasting company first bought the rights in 2012.
The contest was won by Red Bull‘s Sergio Pérez after a rain-delayed start postponed proceedings by more than an hour.
On the very same day, the Indy 500 was by far the most-watched IndyCar race ever for the pay-TV network, with an average of 231,000 viewers and a peak of 372,000.
