Everything to know about the Women’s Premier League 2024

WPL 2024 can be enjoyed on Viacom18‘s top sports networks, Sports18 and JioCinema.

The second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is all set to commence on Friday, February 23, with the defending champions, Mumbai Indians (MI), taking on Delhi Capitals (DC) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

WPL 2024 will take place at two different locations across India: the first leg will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from February 23 to March 4, and the second leg will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi from March 5 to March 17.

This season will follow the same format as the previous one, with playoff positions being awarded to the top three teams from the league stage. The teams that finish second and third will play in the eliminator on March 15, with the league topper going straight to the final game.

During the WPL auction in Mumbai in December 2023, all teams made a few changes to their squads. Annabel Sutherland became the most expensive international player after DC acquired the Australian all-rounder for INR 2 crore. Kashvee Gautam, an uncapped Indian cricketer, joined Gujarat Giants (GG) for the same amount.

The highly anticipated second season of the cash-rich women’s T20 league can be enjoyed on Viacom18‘s top sports networks, Sports18 and JioCinema.

Before the league commences, fans can also witness the opening ceremony at 6.30 PM IST. The likes of Kartik Aryan, Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Tiger Shroff, Shahid Kapoor, and Sidharth Malhotra will perform in Bangalore at the opening ceremony of the competition.
