The Tennis Premier League (TPL) 2024, India’s premier professional tennis competition, is set to begin today, i.e., December 3, 2024, at the Cricket Club of India (CCI), Mumbai.

As one of the most anticipated sporting events on the Indian calendar, the TPL has swiftly gained a reputation for its vibrant environment and competitive spirit.

This season, tennis fans can look forward to the thrilling 25-point system, which adds a unique twist to the game and makes top-tier tennis more engaging and pleasurable for home spectators. The first five days will feature play from all eight teams. The top four teams with the most points won will fight in the semifinals on December 8, which will also include the final.

The sixth season of the TPL will feature a star-studded lineup, featuring veteran Rohan Bopanna and current India No. 1 Sumit Nagal. They will be joined on the court by worldwide notables like reigning US Open Doubles champion Max Purcell, France’s Hugo Gaston, and Armenia’s Elina Avanesyan, all battling for glory and the prestigious top prize for their respective franchises.

The TPL’s novel concept sparks tennis fans’ interest in an exciting and engaging way. Each match between two franchises will include men’s singles, women’s singles, mixed doubles, and men’s doubles, with 100 points at stake. Each category has the same value, with 25 points awarded every game. Teams will compete fiercely during the league stage for a maximum of 500 points (100 points multiplied by five matches), with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals.

Bengaluru SG Pipers, the defending champions, will face stiff opposition from the Bengal Wizards, Punjab Patriots, Rajasthan Rangers, Hyderabad Strikers, Yash Mumbai Eagles, Chennai Smashers, and Gujarat Panthers. Each franchise is gearing up to contend for the coveted trophy, offering a season of intense competition and outstanding tennis performances.
