Everything to know about the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023

The 15th edition of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 is scheduled to begin tomorrow i.e. January 13 and will go through January 29 in Odisha, India. Under the International Hockey Federation (FIH), this event is planned for every four years.

Two stadiums—Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela—will host the games.

A total of 16 nations will compete for the prestigious hockey World Cup title this year. In November 2019, India was chosen to host the 2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup. Four pools are created and contain all 16 teams.

In the pool stage, teams will play each other once, and the group winners will advance directly to the quarterfinals. Four more teams will advance to the quarterfinals after competing in the cross-over matches between the second and third-place teams from each pool.

The 16 teams will play their matches at various times: 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm, and 7:00 pm at IST. All of India’s group-stage matches will begin at 7 pm IST.
