The third season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is all set to begin tonight, i.e., February 14, with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) taking on Gujarat Giants (GG) at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

For the very first time, the competition will be held at four different venues. Among these, the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow and the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara will make their WPL debuts. The other stadiums are Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
The first leg will consist of six games in Vadodara, then eight games in Bengaluru. The third leg will see four games played in Lucknow, followed by four games at Brabourne Stadium.
The format of WPL 2025 remains the same as the previous season. All five teams are going to face each other twice. The top team on the WPL standings will advance directly to the final. The second and third-placed teams will face off in the Eliminator. The winner of Eliminator will face off against the table toppers in the championship match.

Sophie Devine, Kate Cross, Sophie Molineux, Pooja Vastrakar, Asha Sobhana, and Alyssa Healy are among the notable names who will not participate in WPL 2025. Ultimately, this presents a perfect opportunity for domestic talent to shine.
