The Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025, India’s inaugural global javelin competition, is set to take place tonight, July 5, 2025, at Bengaluru’s iconic Kanteerava Stadium at 7:30 PM IST.
The event will be one of the premier track and field meetings in the country for years to come, with some of the world’s top athletes competing for a chance to make history.
The event, promoted as India’s first international javelin tournament, is organised by Neeraj Chopra, JSW Sports, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), and World Athletics (WA).
Neeraj, the Olympic and reigning world champion, leads the field. He will be accompanied by a talented group of throwers, notably two-time world champion Thomas Rohler and Rio 2016 Olympic gold medallist Julius Yego. In addition, a total of five Indian javelin throwers, including Neeraj Chopra himself, will compete in the first NC Classic. This will comprise Rohit Yadav, Sachin Yadav, Yash Vir Singh, and Sahil Silwal.
The Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025 is a significant javelin competition since it is the most high-profile tournament in this sport to be staged on Indian soil thus far. It is a World Athletics A-category event, which means it is only a lower profile than the Olympic Games, the Diamond League and Diamond Finals, and the Indoor, Outdoor, and World Athletics Championships.
In addition to the sport, the event will provide spectators a memorable experience with live music performances, fan zones, and interactive engagement activities, transforming it into a real celebration of sport, culture, and nation.
