The apex body for handball in Europe, European Handball Federation (EHF) has signed the dotted lines with the subsidiary of Polish multinational oil refiner and petrol retailer, ORLEN Deutschland.
Following the partnership, ORLEN Deutschland has been named the official advertising partner of the Men’s EHF Euro 2024, which is to be held in Germany from January 10 to January 28, 2024. The deal was brokered by the media and marketing partner of the EHF, Infront Sports & Media.
Through this deal, the oil refiner entity will receive a range of visible and non-visible rights at the marquee tournament.
It is the first time that ORLEN will be at EHF EURO, the premier national team competition of the European Handball Federation, giving them the chance to further develop the company’s reputation in the German and worldwide markets.
Martin Hausleitner, EHF Secretary General, said, “We are happy to welcome ORLEN to the partners’ line-up for the upcoming Men’s EHF EURO. The upcoming European Championship will be a great opportunity to develop successful cooperation, while ORLEN seizes the opportunity to be present on the biggest stage of European handball and strengthen their brand in the German as well as European markets.”
Dariusz Pawlik, Chief Operating Officer, ORLEN Deutschland GmbH, said, “The Men’s EHF EURO 2024, which is taking place in Germany for the first time, is a unique opportunity and ideal stage to increase awareness of our star and ORLEN brands in Germany, but also throughout Europe. As a long-standing partner of THW Kiel, we are also underlining our commitment to the sport of handball. In addition, it fits perfectly into the strategic direction of the internationalisation of our parent company – the multi-energy group PKN ORLEN – the leading provider of a wide range of energy products on the Central European market.”
One of the biggest corporations in central Eastern Europe, ORLEN Deutschland GmbH is a subsidiary of the Polish multi-energy firm PKN ORLEN S.A., which has annual sales of 19 billion Euros in 2020. The company currently operates almost 600 star and ORLEN stations on the German market.
