Erling Haaland’s entourage holds talks with Barcelona

One of the hottest and in-demand young talent, Erling Haaland is likely to be the biggest transfer during summer. The latest development in this transfer saga comes from Spain. According to Catalan media Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, and father Alf Inge Haaland arrived in Spain to hold talks with FC Barcelona,

As per Fabrizio Romano, Raiola and Inge Haaland had a meeting with Dortmund before arriving in Barcelona.

Haaland has enjoyed a terrific goalscoring record in his short career until now. The 20-year-old striker has scored 35 goals across all competitions this season. As per ESPN, Dortmund is demanding €180 million euros for Haaland. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will be able to afford this transfer fee. The Spanish club is already burdened with debt over €1 billion.

Newly elected Barcelona president, Joan Laporta and Raiola reportedly share a cordial relationship.  Dortmund’s participation in the Champions League is going to have a big bearing on Haaland’s decision in the summer. His current contract has a release clause worth €75 million that gets activated from next summer. Dortmund is in a strong negotiation position to command an extremely high for him this year.

Other clubs remain in the picture

The likes  Manchester City, PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Haaland. Raiola is expected to talk to all interested clubs before making a final decision. This transfer saga has the potential to rumble throughout the transfer window.

Barcelona has taken the first initiative to explore a possible deal, but there is still a long way to go for this transfer to happen. Haaland’s immediate focus will be the Champions League quarter-final tie against Manchester City. The Norwegian striker will also like to help Dortmund to finish in the top four of the Bundesliga.
