Eredivisie, the Dutch top-flight football competition, has announced a landmark multi-year pact with VriendenLoterij.
With this association, Eredivisie has bagged its first title sponsor in two decades. The four-year partnership till the 2028-29 edition will kick off in the next season. Throughout the arrangement, the competition will be known as the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie.
The two parties involved have been associates as social partners since 2005.
Jan de Jong, Chief Executive of the Eredivisie, has said, “For Eredivisie CV, this represents a milestone in our history, ranking among one of the most significant sponsorship deals in Dutch football. We are committed to making this a joint success. The VriendenLoterij Eredivisie will be far more than just a name.”
Lydi Siebers, VriendenLoterij’s Managing Director, added, “The strengthening of this partnership with the most important football competition in the Netherlands is fantastic for us. The VriendenLoterij and the Eredivisie, together with the 18 clubs, are committed to making a positive impact on society every day by working towards a healthier, more inclusive, and stronger society.”
Eredivisie’s last title sponsor was Holland Casino, a gaming company, from 2002 to 2005. Before Holland Casino, KPN served as the competition’s title partner for the 2000-02 cycle.
KPN and Casino are currently league sponsors, along with Unibet, EA Sports, Hugo Boss, and Sorare.
Eredivisie’s recent developments include the appointment of Bas Raemakers as commercial director in late September and media rights enhancement with IMG in October.
After 15 matchdays, PSV Eindhoven have acquired the top spot on the league table with 42 points.
