English football clubs are entering the 2026–27 season with an increasingly diversified approach to commercial partnerships, with Newcastle United, Fulham, Coventry City and West Ham United adding new sponsors across payments, technology, automotive and environmental services.

Newcastle United have agreed a multi-year partnership with SumUp, which has become the club’s official training kit partner. SumUp branding will appear on training and pre-match apparel across the men’s first team, women’s team and academy. The partnership also includes presenting rights for the Newcastle United Business Club and plans for a co-branded SumUp card offering supporters rewards and benefits.

Speaking on the partnership, Newcastle United’s Chief Revenue Officer, Dave O’Connor, said, “SumUp is the perfect partner for Newcastle United; an innovative, ambitious, global business with a genuine commitment to supporting local businesses who serve our fans and community everyday. We’re excited to kick the partnership off and bring SumUp, its team and its local merchant community closer to the club and our supporters. This partnership is a reflection of our commercial ambition: working with innovative global businesses that fully understand the unique role Newcastle United plays in the life of our city and its community.”

Fulham have appointed Focus Group as an official supplier, with the business technology provider set to support the club and Fulham Pier across connectivity, IT and cybersecurity. The partnership will also extend into corporate engagement, with Focus Group and Cisco expected to host joint activities at Fulham Pier during the season.

Jon Don Carolis, Chief Revenue Officer at Fulham Football Club, added, “It is with pleasure that we welcome Focus Group as new Official Supplier. Their expertise across technology and connectivity reflects the standards we hold ourselves to across the Club, and we look forward to working together over the forthcoming season.”

Coventry City have signed a multi-year agreement with Geely Auto UK, naming the manufacturer both official sleeve partner and official vehicle partner. Geely branding will feature on the first-team shirt, while the partnership will incorporate fan engagement, community initiatives and vehicle activations. The deal also carries a strong local connection, with Geely maintaining design and engineering operations in Coventry.

Nicola Ibbetson, Chief Business Officer at Coventry City Football Club, said, “The Club is clear in its ambition: we want to represent the UK’s Motor City proudly, both here and around the world. Our return to the Premier League gives us an extraordinary global platform, and this partnership with Geely Auto will be critical to how we use it. We are incredibly proud that one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers shares our belief in Coventry and has demonstrated that commitment by partnering with us. This is much more than a logo on a sleeve. By working together, we can introduce Geely Auto’s growing range of vehicles to new audiences, create innovative experiences for our fans and ensure that people across the world understand what Cov represents: ambition, innovation, resilience and proud automotive roots.”

West Ham United have expanded their relationship with Williams Environmental, naming the waste management company their official back of shorts partner for the men’s first team. The agreement provides branding on playing shorts, alongside LED, digital and wider activation opportunities. The partnership builds on a relationship that began through West Ham’s Club London hospitality programme.

Speaking on the launch of the partnership, West Ham United’s Director of Sales, Joseph Benjamin, said, “Having worked with Jason and the team at Williams Environmental for several years, to see them progress from Club London members to Official Back of Shorts Partner marks a proud moment for everyone connected with West Ham United.

“Our successful relationship has been a testament to our shared passion for exceptional service, which makes this partnership the perfect fit for the Club and Williams Environmental. The Williams team’s love for the Club has been clear to see since the day we began working with them, and we’re incredibly excited to strengthen our partnership with them, as we both strive to achieve our goals in the season ahead.”

Taken together, the agreements reflect the changing commercial landscape of English football. Clubs are increasingly using sponsorship assets not simply for brand visibility, but as platforms for B2B networking, customer acquisition, hospitality, community engagement and direct-to-consumer activity.

The deals also underline the growing value of partnerships built around geographic and strategic alignment, allowing clubs to connect global brands with local communities while creating more meaningful commercial platforms beyond traditional shirt sponsorship.
