The Hero Intercontinental Cup is a prominent football event organised by AIFF that began in 2018 to replace the Nehru Cup. It includes four teams from various continents and islands, including Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. The national teams of India, Lebanon, Vanuatu, and Mongolia will compete in this year’s competition.

From June 9 to 18, 2023, the Hero Intercontinental Cup will be hosted in the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The championship game will take place on June 18. The four teams competing in the 2023 edition are from four different confederations. Each team will compete in a round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the final. In 2018, India won the inaugural tournament, beating Kenya 2-0 in the final. North Korea won the following year, defeating Tajikistan in the final.

Lebanon is the highest-ranked nation, currently ranking 99th in the world, while India is positioned at 106.
