Disney Star extends Premier League broadcast rights

In the last six years, Disney Star has increased Premier League viewership by more than tenfold.

Disney Star has renewed its exclusive broadcast rights for the Premier League in India for the next three seasons. The new deal will now run until the end of the 2024/25 season. With the renewal, India’s broadcaster will be associated with the world’s most prestigious football league for over two decades.

Disney Star will look forward to escalating the Premier League viewership across the Indian subcontinent by broadcasting all 380 matches on the Star Sports network and Disney+ Hotstar.

In the last six years, Disney Star has increased the Premier League viewership by more than tenfold. Disney Star has left no stone unturned in its efforts to grow the fan base and bring fans together, from making content available in additional regional feeds, such as Malayalam and Bangla, to developing country-specific campaigns over the years and organising on-the-ground activations such as Select FC Screenings and Trophy Tours.

Sanjog Gupta, Head-Sports, Disney Star, said, “We are delighted to continue our association with the Premier League and look forward to the collaboration over the next three seasons. Our joint efforts have seen viewership for the league grow manifold and we remain committed to widening its popularity as well as deepening the affiliation for its clubs.

He added, “With Premier League and the Indian Super League, we are home to the two most popular football leagues in India and will continue our endeavour to grow football fandom in the country.”

Paul Molnar, Premier League, Chief Media Officer, commented, “The Premier League is delighted to announce an extension of our exciting association with Disney Star. They will be an outstanding home for the Premier League over the next three seasons and we look forward to working together to showcase the League to new and existing fans throughout the Indian sub-continent.”
