Disney Star confirms Ambarish Bandyopadhyay’s appointment as Head of Sports Sales

Ahead of the promotion, Bandyopadhyay was with Star India as Executive Director for almost four years.

The Indian media conglomerate, Disney Star, has officially confirmed the appointment of Ambarish Bandyopadhyay as Head of Sports Sales.

Ahead of the promotion, Bandyopadhyay was with Star India as Executive Director for almost four years.

With this promotion, Bandyopadhyay has replaced Anup Govindan, who resigned from the company as the Revenue Head earlier this year in July to join Viacom18‘s sports network as the Chief Revenue Officer, as per reports.

Sticking to its policy of internal hiring, Disney Star conducted several interviews and determined Bandyopadhyay as Head of Sports Sales.

From Jadav University (1994-98), Ambarish pursued the degree of Bachelor of Engineering and later did his post-graduation from the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad.

Bandyopadhyay has a rich experience in the industry. Since the inception of his career, he has worked with companies like Dabur India, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Ht Media Ltd and PepsiCo India.

He worked with Hindustan Unilever Ltd for over 10 years and with Ht Media Ltd for more than four years.

Being appointed as the Head of Sports Sales, Ambarish’s primary job will be to focus on the upcoming home bilateral series and the highly anticipated ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

The departure of Govindan was the latest dent to Star’s team as Anil Jayaraj resigned from Star Sports to join Viacom18 as CEO-Sports and Gulshan Verma also left Disney+ Hotstar to join JioAds as CEO, last year.

Atul Gandhi, Executive Director – Advertising Sales of Star Sports, also reportedly left the company to join Viacom18, earlier this year in July.
