The official digital streaming partner of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Disney+ Hotstar exceeded viewing records with 3.1 crore of peak viewership during the India vs Australia Super Eight match on Monday, i.e., June 24, 2024.
Peak concurrency mentioned above was achieved during the 12th over when the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was hitting the ball all around the park.
The contest between the two was primarily made for T20 fans. Additionally, with the two best cricket teams in the world competing for semi-final berths, the match was certain to be intriguing.
A similar level of viewing numbers was expected during India’s game against arch-rivals Pakistan, but unexpectedly, it did not occur.
After winning the toss, Mitchell Marsh asked India to bat first. While Rohit performed admirably, smashing 92 off 41 balls, others too contributed, which helped India win the contest comfortably. Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav performed well with the ball, while Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya were among the other players who batted effectively.
Australia lost the match and two points, and they later had to pray that Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan in the subsequent game to proceed to the next round. However, Afghanistan prevailed and eliminated Australia from the tournament.
As far as the Indian team is concerned, the unit will take on England on June 27 in the highly anticipated semi-final clash.
