The organising body of Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga has expanded partnership with Greenfly, a leading provider of short-form content workflow management solutions.
With the extended partnership, Greenfly will continue to facilitate the flow of digital media assets throughout the league’s content ecosystem. Greenfly allows real-time content from top-tier Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches to be delivered via the DFL’s Social Media Matchday Feed (SMMF).
The content is gathered by social media reporters given by each Bundesliga team, giving worldwide media partners, viewers, and supporters access to unique matchday coverage. This enables over 60 DFL media partners to use this information in their Bundesliga broadcasts.
The DFL and Bundesliga 2 teams will increase their usage of Greenfly to collect and deliver unique behind-the-scenes content to broadcasters for certain “top tier” games. The league will film “all-access” material of club and player arrivals, following athletes from the bus to the locker room and onto the pitch as part of pre-match coverage.
The DFL was one of the first leagues to deploy Greenfly’s technology to broadcast match-day material to over 60 media partners, starting in 2020. Over the duration of their current cooperation, an SMMF reporter has followed over a thousand Bundesliga matches, recording behind-the-scenes club-specific video for widespread distribution.
Dennis Galejski, Head of Product Management at the DFL, said, “We look forward to our continued collaboration with Greenfly and the innovations that will come from the power of this collaboration. By bringing our perspectives together, we create products that are not only good, but can shape the future of sports media production.”
Gabby Vidal Castillo, Greenfly Senior Sports Partnership Manager of EMEA, said, “This deal underscores the importance of leveraging short-form content to connect and engage with fans, not only through social media but via broadcast. The DFL has set a high standard for innovation in sports media production and we’re excited to work alongside them to elevate how their players interact with fans globally, strengthening both their personal brands and the league’s reach.”
Greenfly has similar agreements with other major sports leagues such as the National Basketball Association (NBA), National Hockey League (NHL), and Major League Baseball (MLB). The Greenfly platform is also utilised by rugby union’s Six Nations and SailGP.
The company collects, organises, and delivers short-form material in real time to athletes, staff, broadcasters, and sponsors. The content creation platform Greenfly has extended its multi-year, league-wide contract with German soccer’s DFL organisation.
With the extended partnership, Greenfly will continue to facilitate the flow of digital media assets throughout the league’s content ecosystem.
