Delta Air Lines bags naming rights to Utah Jazz arena

In accordance with a multi-year arrangement, the multipurpose sports and entertainment complex will change its name to Delta Center as of July 2023.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) team, Utah Jazz have announced that Delta Air Lines has obtained the naming rights for the home stadium.

In accordance with a multi-year arrangement, the multipurpose sports and entertainment complex, which hosts the Utah Jazz and more than 320 evenings of events annually, will change its name to Delta Center as of July 2023.

Ryan Smith, Owner of Utah Jazz and Chairman of Smith Entertainment Group, said, “I have so many amazing memories of the Delta Center as a kid, and I know that countless people throughout Utah and beyond had similar experiences creating core memories there, whether watching the Olympics & Paralympic Winter Games, the NBA Finals, concerts, or other incredible events.

“We are excited to partner with Ed Bastian and the entire Delta team to not only bring back the arena’s original name but also leverage the amazing work Delta is doing to provide incredible experiences for the people of our state and help show the world how amazing Utah is.”

Prior to Utah Jazz’s home game against Philadelphia 76ers, which ended in a 117-118 loss, Delta CEO Ed Bastian and Utah Jazz Owners Ryan and Ashley Smith had a joint media event over the weekend.

Bastian, said, “Today we celebrate a new chapter in the longstanding history between Delta, the Utah Jazz and the Salt Lake City community. The homecoming of the Delta Center represents a continued investment and dedication to Salt Lake City, and together we will provide a leading sports and entertainment experience to the city and Jazz fans worldwide.”

The two parties involved have also declared that they will keep working together to support neighbourhood projects all around the state.
