The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Deloitte have announced an expanded partnership that will see the professional services firm play a pivotal role in the technological advancement of the Olympic Games.

This extended collaboration will span from the Milano-Cortina 2026 Games to Brisbane 2032.

As the games technology integration partner, Deloitte will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing the technological infrastructure for the Olympic, Paralympic, and Youth Olympic Games. This encompasses various responsibilities, including application development, cybersecurity, and overall technological integration.

Building on their collaboration, the partnership aims to leverage technology to enhance the fan experience, optimize game delivery, and bolster security measures. Additionally, there is a strong focus on sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Olympic Movement.

Commenting on the partnership, John Skowron, Deloitte Vice Chairman – Olympic and Paralympic Games, stated, “This is an exciting moment for Deloitte as we build on the incredible work we have already begun with the IOC around digital transformation, knowledge management infrastructure, as well as programmes supporting athletes and sustainability initiatives. In 2022, we kicked off our ‘partnership with purpose’ with the goal of utilising Deloitte’s capabilities to advance our shared ambition of enabling a better world through sport.”

Ilario Corna, the IOC’s Chief Information and Technology Officer, added, “We are thrilled to deepen our collaboration with Deloitte through this expanded partnership. “Together with Deloitte, we are excited to explore new possibilities and drive forward the future of technology in sport. Our shared vision of excellence and innovation will ensure that the Olympic Games remain a symbol of human potential and achievement. We look forward to continuing this journey, setting new benchmarks, and inspiring future generations through our commitment to technological advancement and excellence in the world of sport.”

John Tweardy, Consulting Principal, Olympic & Paralympic Games & Major Events, Deloitte Switzerland, stated, “This is an incredible opportunity for Deloitte to bring together the depth and breadth of our entire organisation to support the transformation and modernisation of the platforms that will drive forward the next generation of scalable technology solutions to optimize the Olympic Games experience. With Deloitte’s experience in sport, data-driven marketing, cybersecurity, tax and technologies such as AI, we will join the IOC and other partners to create a “one team” model that we believe can have a positive and lasting impact on the IOC, Organising Committees, and the fan experience.”

Deloitte’s involvement extends beyond the technology integration partnership. The firm is also the domestic professional services partner for the Milano-Cortina 2026 and Los Angeles 2028 Games.

As a Worldwide Olympic Partner, Deloitte is already applying its experience in management and business consulting to enhance and secure the IOC’s digital ecosystem supporting the Olympic Movement.

The expanded partnership was secured through a competitive tender process, affirming Deloitte’s position as a leading provider of technology solutions for global events.
