The Delhi Chess Association (DCA) has formed a strategic relationship with Triveni Sports Private Limited (TSPL) to host the 21st edition of the Delhi International Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament.
As an associate sponsor, Triveni Sports will help the DCA’s objective to develop India’s competitive chess environment by supporting an event that has regularly generated top-tier talent.
The Delhi GM Open 2025, hosted by the All India Chess Federation, remains to be Asia’s biggest classical-format chess event. Triveni Sports, a joint venture between Triveni Engineering & Industries Limited and Triveni Turbine Limited, is backing this scale with its back-to-back Global Chess League titles and deep institutional ties to Indian chess, bringing elite-level dedication to a tournament designed to grow the sport from the ground up.
Triveni’s contribution at the Delhi GM Open will be smoothly linked, providing high brand awareness throughout the competition. From on-the-ground activation to digital ads, the collaboration reflects a common goal of elevating chess as both a competitive sport and a cultural force.
Mr. Dhruv M. Sawhney, Chairman and Managing Director of Triveni Group, will be the Chief Guest at this year’s inauguration ceremony, adding to the event’s significance. Mr. Sawhney, a devoted chess player and former President of the All India Chess Federation for 12 years, provides extensive knowledge and a strong devotion to the sport.
Mr. Dhruv M. Sawhney, Chairman and Managing Director, Triveni Group, said, “Chess has always held a special place in my heart. It is a game of depth, discipline, and limitless potential—values that resonate deeply with us at Triveni. Through Triveni Sports, we are committed to supporting platforms that empower young talent and advance the sport in a meaningful way. We’re proud to stand behind the Delhi GM Open that provide a true platform to the emerging chess players.”
Bharat Singh Chauhan, President, DCA, said, “For two decades, the Delhi GM Open has helped build the foundation of Indian chess. This is where young talent gets tested, where norms are earned, and where future Grandmasters cut their teeth. Having Triveni Sports on board adds real strength to that mission. They’re not new to chess, they understand its demands and its potential. Together, we’re aligned with the long game we’re playing, which is growing chess sustainably from the grassroots up.”
The Delhi GM Open 2025 will take place from June 7 to 14 at Tivoli Gardens in Chattarpur, New Delhi, with a record INR 1.21 crore prize pool and over 2,500 participants from more than 15 nations. The event will include 20 Grandmasters in three rating-based sections.
